Jakarta, xweb.biz.id – Roma’s head coach, Claudio Ranieri, credited Paulo Dybala for his brilliant performance in the Europa League playoff match against Porto at Olimpico Stadium on Friday (2/21/2025). Ranieri acknowledged that it was Dybala who played a crucial role in securing Roma’s place in the top 16 of the competition.

Porto initially took the lead in the 27th minute with a goal from Samu Omorodion. However, Dybala quickly turned the game around for Roma, scoring twice in the 35th and 39th minutes, helping Roma take a 2-1 lead.

Niccolo Pisilli extended Roma’s advantage in the 83rd minute, and despite an own goal from Devyne Rensch in the 90th minute +6, Porto’s efforts fell short, resulting in a 4-3 aggregate victory for Roma.

“He got our game back on track. All his teammates worked hard, but he was the spark, our weapon, and everything,” Ranieri said in his post-match interview with Sky Sport Italy.

Ranieri also expressed satisfaction with Dybala’s fitness and enthusiasm: “He enjoys his football and wants to always be on the field. I’m happy to have him in the team.”

Despite the win, Ranieri voiced concerns over Roma’s defensive lapses. “I was upset when we conceded one goal, let alone two. We need to stay disciplined, especially when attacking,” he added.

Dybala, on the other hand, was elated with Roma’s performance after falling behind. “After they scored, we showed an extraordinary response as a great and passionate team. The tension made us stronger and more determined. The crowd’s support gave us even more confidence,” Dybala said after the match.
