Polri Officially Ends Search for Glodok Plaza Fire Victims

West Jakarta, xweb.biz.id – The National Police (Polri) has officially ended the search operation for victims of the devastating fire at Glodok Plaza, Tamansari, West Jakarta. According to Brigadier General Nyoman Eddy Purnama, the Head of the Police Health Documentation and Development Center (Pusdokkes), the decision was made after the search yielded no further findings of victims’ bodies.

“We have agreed that the current search for victims will be closed,” Brigadier General Eddy Purnama stated during a press briefing on Friday, February 21, 2025.

The joint team, which included personnel from Polri and other agencies, had been searching for missing individuals who may have been trapped in the building. However, despite their efforts, no additional bodies have been discovered.

The search did uncover some personal belongings, such as a waist bag and a pair of glasses. While these items are significant, they did not lead to the discovery of any missing victims.

Brigadier General Eddy emphasized that while the search for bodies is officially concluded, the area will continue to be combed for any remains or body parts. Should any body part be found, authorities will proceed with identification.

“We will continue to physically cleanse the area to ensure that no body parts are overlooked. If anything suspicious is found, it will be treated with the utmost care for identification,” Eddy explained.

The fire at Glodok Plaza, which occurred earlier this month, left many residents and employees devastated. Authorities have yet to confirm the full scope of the incident, but earlier reports suggest a short circuit from a videotron was the likely cause.

Despite halting the active search, Polri remains committed to thoroughly investigating the scene to ensure all aspects of the tragedy are addressed.
