President Prabowo Subianto to Announce Regulation on Child Protection in the Digital Space

Jakarta, xweb.biz.id – President Prabowo Subianto is preparing to announce a regulation that will provide greater protection for children in the digital space. The government is currently finalizing this regulation, which seeks to address pressing issues such as child pornography and the negative effects of online gambling on children. This regulation comes in response to public demands for stronger protections against digital threats facing the younger generation.

Meutya Hafid, the Minister of Communication and Digital (Menkomdigi), shared the update following a meeting with President Prabowo Subianto at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta. During a limited meeting and a luncheon with the Cabinet members, Meutya highlighted the government’s efforts to finalize the regulation, which is expected to address concerns raised by the public.

“Hopefully, soon President Prabowo himself will announce it to the public. The principle is that based on the tremendous input from the public, the government is currently working on regulations related to child protection in the digital space,” Meutya said in a press statement at the Presidential Palace.

Meutya explained that her ministry, in collaboration with electronic system organizers, has gathered feedback from various stakeholders to ensure the regulation is comprehensive and effective. This regulation will specifically target the increasing prevalence of child pornography and the rising concerns about online gambling and its harmful effects on children.

“We have certainly received a lot of feedback. Right now, the regulation is in the final stages of development. President Prabowo will announce it to the public when it is ready,” she added.

In addition to the announcement on child protection regulations, the meeting at the Presidential Palace also marked the first of what will become a new tradition under President Prabowo’s leadership.
